Vine grafts

In company 13. Jul-Plantaže the production of vine grafts is related primarily to the productions of autochthonous varieties of grapevine: Vranac, Krstač, and Kratošija. Over time, production of other varieties developed, necessary for the establishment of the new vineyards. When it comes to table grapes, grafts are produced for: Kardinal, Ribier, Muscat, Pleven, Victoria, and for wine table grapes: Vranac, Kratošija, Merlot, Krstač, Chardonnay, Pinot Blanc, Malvasia, Cabernet Sauvignon and other. In 2000, we constructed our very first modern seed plot with 2856 vine stocks per hectare and by 2006 we have had 40 h of seed plot. We planted different vine stock varieties that fit perfectly into the difficult skeletal soil and whose roots penetrate to the deeper layers of the ground. These seedlings are more tolerant of drought, have a better chance of surviving and growing and even though they give a smaller amount of yield, it’s of higher quality. Annual production ranges from 500.000 to 700.000 of cuttings for grafting in our seed plot. From 250,000 to 350,000 produced vine grafts are of first-class quality. Our company has produced 6.500.000 vine grafts so far, mainly for the establishment of our own plantations and the number is increasing year after year.
